English Cocker Spaniels were originally bred as hunting dogs in the United Kingdom. The term “cocker” deriving from their use to hunt the Eurasian woodcock. When the English Cocker Spaniel was brought to the United States, it was bred to a different standard, which enabled it to specialize in hunting the American Woodcock. Over the years this breed of dog has won the hearts of families and remains very popular in the United States.

The English Cocker Spaniel is a very outgoing, personable, smart, and loyal dog. They have warm personalities and approachable demeanors. They do well with families of all dynamics and tend to adapt well to their living environment.
